PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION: Adventures to Rival Don Quixote

This amusing picaresque tale explores the joys and hazards of embarking on a seemingly far-fetched but ultimately satisfying quest: how foreign language translations affect a work's lilterary quality and meanings. The pace is swift, the descriptions vivid, and the cast of devious characters who put the hero in constant jeopardy make PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION unputdownable. Highly unusual and a fun read.

I'm not quite done with it, but the story sure moves along. I've found many things I like about the book - Characters are endearing, connections between people are vivid, sex is just explicit enough...

Problems of Translations translates toa goodfun read!

I am an avid reader of many types of genres. This had a little intrique, fantasy, intellectual stimulation. I had not expected to enjoy this book as much as I did. I found myself casting it for a movie, which I rarely do when reading a book. I really liked the protagonist, Charlie, very smart, a little naïve but so hopeful and positive. It was a fun read but also a wonderfully written travelogue of some exotic places. Walter Mitty meets a Beautiful Mind.
